Health insurance. need some?
Shelly P. Tofu, E.M.T. asked:
Hi. I’m a 27 year old white female who lives in Virginia. I need some kind of health insurance but I am VERY VERY Low income. I only get about 600$ a month total, but have no rent fees or utility bills except telephone. Does anyone know of any low cost or government health insurance I would qualify for? Like Medicaid? I am going to need some blood tests done soon, and I’m afraid medical bills are going to be beyond what I can pay.
BTW. I don’t have any pre-existing condition, like diabetes or anything.. I just need some tests done to measure hormone levels and thyroid, etc… and I’m just afraid that if that leads to something (say Cushings disease, which would require a surgery to correct, and i do have a few of the symptoms but no diagnosis) There is NO WAY I could pay for it!!
Any advice???
THanks so much

Shelly, I can tell you from experience, don’t go to a doctor before you have insurance. Anything they write in your chart can affect your ability to get insurance.
Check with your state for medical assistance. Most states have something.
Likely you would qualify for medicaid . . . you’ll have to apply.
Here is a link to Virginia’s Medicaid program.
There is an online tool to see if you qualify, but you must also be interviewed. My guess is that you will qualify for one of their programs.
If not, here is a link to the Blue Cross in Virginia. You can get a price through this link.
try this
it’s one form to get a number of quotes from different insurers. It’s free and a big time saver, these are all the main American insurers competing to get your business so you are bound to find something that suits you, if it works out remember my points please
