Can someone answer my health insurance question?

Katetrinity asked:

I currently am paying for COBRA. I am 61 years old, female. I am on long term disability & disability social security. I am able to get medicare when I am 62. I have a pre existing condition, COPD. Looks like no one will accept me, except Blue Cross.

I need a medical supplement PLUS an exceptional prescription plan. I am on many meds, including oxygen 24/7.

I make too much money to qualify for medicaid or any other help.

ANY of you insurance agents have any ideas? I will be 62 on April 5th.
Any help is much appreciated. I have searched & looked on the internet & most of them I do not trust. I have heard too many bad stories about them. I am paying $490.00 a month plus co pays now & it is killing me.
RED VELVET: What is GHI ? I never heard of it.

Have you looked into GHI? My dad was diagnosed with cancer last year and they insured him although he had already been diagnosed.

Unfortunately, I’m not aware of any better options for you than COBRA.

You could likely get a policy through one of your state’s high risk insurance pools, but I can almost guarantee that the premium will well exceed $490 a month.

For information on your state’s high risk pool and/or any other insurance companies that would accept high risk individuals in your state, please check with the Department of Insurance. They’ll be able to steer you to companies in your area. But please be forewarned that even if you can qualify for one of these policies, the premiums might be shocking to you.

Just hold on as best you can until you can get on Medicare in 7 months. Good luck.
